Dog Training & Behaviour Consultations
If you would like individual help for your dog or puppy for either basic training, more advanced training, behavioural issues or just general advice then 1:1 sessions are available. Pre-puppy/rescue dog consultations are also available. When you book a 1:1 session I come to your home (distance dependant) and first take a full history of the dog, the problems or issues and find out what you want to achieve from our time together.
I charge an hourly rate and normally the first session is an hour or two, after the initial session you will have practical things to practice and put into place. The number of sessions required will obviously depend on what the issues are and this will be discussed during the first session.
1:1 sessions can be booked at times that suit you and there are opportunities for evening, early morning and weekend sessions along with normal working hours. 1:1 is suitable for all dogs and puppies whatever the age or problem. Whilst undergoing 1:1 you will have free phone and email back-up in between sessions.
The puppy socialisation classes are a course of 6 lessons for an hour each week. Classes are small (maximum 4 puppies) to ensure plenty of individual attention.
During the 6 week course a broad range of subjects are covered. This will include some basic theory such as socialisation, house training, understanding how dogs communicate and think, how to deal with mouthing and biting, suitable equipment, play, exercise and general care. The practical exercises covered include coming back when called, road safety, wait and stay, walking nicely on lead, a leave exercise and how to deal with jumping up.
When the weather permits and when all puppies are ready we go out for short road walks to practice the skills where they are needed.
Pre-booking is essential for these classes and they take place on Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm and 7:45pm at the All Creatures Veterinary Surgery, 85 Lavender Hill, London, SW11 5QL.

Social walk classes are wonderful for dogs as like us they are social creatures that enjoy opportunities to practise their social skills. We also need to be able to control our dogs, protect them from danger and prevent them from being a nuisance. In a social walk class there is plenty of time for individual questions. Classes take place in the park and on the streets where such skills are needed.
Groups are always kept small and we practise a variety of things depending on the weather, individual ability and time of year. The types of training exercises covered include recall, stay, road safety, passing other people and dogs politely, coming away from distractions, fun and natural agility using what we have in the environment, nosework and tracking.
These interactive classes are open to all ages, abilities and breeds and they help increase skills and confidence in both dog and owner. Dogs need to have had 1:1 training with me or have completed my puppy socialisation classes before they can join the social walk classes.
Classes are held at 12:30pm and 1:45pm on Tuesdays and 9:00am and 10:15am on Saturdays. The meeting place is the area of common between Trinity Road and Spencer Park Road in Wandsworth. Bookings are essential.
