Testimonials for Winkie's Services

Sam & Jack"I have recently completed Winkie's 6 week puppy training course with my young whippet Sam. He's my first dog and although I have always lived with a cat and have extensive knowledge of cats I felt I needed some direction and advice regarded bringing up my dog to be a well behaved, sociable boy who could co habit harmoniously with Jack my Cat.

Simply, winkie's course was brilliant! The class was kept deliberately small to enable lot's of one to one time and we found her advice invaluable! We really benefited from Winkie's experience and knowledge and were able to discuss behavioural issues as they cropped up over the weeks which was extremely helpful.

As a result I'm pleased to report that as well as learning the puppy training essentials, myself, Sam and Jack are all living very happily together and I've attached a photo of them recently taking a nap together!

I have and will continue to recommend Winkie to all I know. She's absolutely fantastic!" - Tara & Sam Norveil

"I just wanted to drop you a line to thank you so much for the three training lesions you have given my 12 week old Labrador "Noodles”. In this time he has learnt to sit, stay, leave, and has perfect recall in the park where he walks off the lead, much to the amazement and sometimes annoyance of the owners that have their three year old on a lead as it will disappear if they let it off.

I think fact is you not only train the dog but the owner as well, so both know what to expect from each other. As you know initially very unsure of myself around the dog but now I feel totally comfortable with Noodles as he does with me.

Thank you so much”

"Winkie has offered one to one help with a new puppy and then continuing support through socialisation walks. She is exceptionally patient with dog owners and explains the purpose behind each recommendation allowing for a happy dog, a happy owner and a positive experience all round. Her in depth knowledge of different breeds and their foibles and calm demeanour make her a pleasure to work with".

“I have known Winkie for 7 years - we first met when I worked for the Goddard Vet Group and she and her dogs were clients there. Over the years, I have learnt a lot from Winkie about dogs and have been to many of her talks and classes about dog training and behaviour. I would recommend her to anyone looking for guidance regarding their dog. She is very professional and keeps up to date with the latest research and is also very caring and helpful.” August 21, 2010 Lorna Mann , Owner , LORNA'S PET CARE SERVICE

“I have purchased Winkie's book. 'How to handle living with your dog' and I found it very easy and fun to read. The book is full of very useful tips which helped me training and having fun with my puppy. Highly recommended.”

“Winkie is a wonderfully gifted dog trainer / behaviourist”

“We took our new puppy to Winkie’s puppy socialisation classes and it was an invaluable experience. It offers new puppies a great opportunity to mix with other dogs and provides them with essential training. Winkie was always available with any questions and I would definitely recommend her services to any dog owners, old or new.”

“Winkie is the best thing that ever happened to me and my dog! She has trained extensively as a dog trainer/behaviourist/Bowen Massage therapist for dogs/horses & people. Winkie is one of a very few trainers who works as an evidence based practitioner - the difference between her and other dog trainers I have employed in the past are that Winkie continually modifies her approach according to latest canine research/practices. Others merely use handed down tips - much of which is already dated (eg. the myth that we need to 'dominate' our dogs). Winkie assesses each dog as an an individual and discovers WHY a dog is exhibiting certain problem behaviours - and creates a remedial action plan based on psychological insight about the dog. Other trainers I have used in the past will simply shout at the dog/bully it into submission! Winkie looks at each dog holistically and has extensive knowledge about canine health/nutrition & the overall lifestyle of the dog- factors that are often forgotten in the work of a dog trainer/behaviourist. In fact Winkie has helped me immensely with every single aspect of owning a dog - & given me invaluable tips that even vets have not been able to give me. She loves all dogs and all animals from the heart, and by attending her classes I have seen amazing changes in my own dog, with his fear - based insecurities, and those of my friends. Just as importantly Winkie has great insight into human psychology as she will often point out in a most kind and non- judgemental manner that it is often the human end of the lead that is at fault!! Further testimony to what I am saying comes from the fact that Winkie is a highly sought after educator and speaker on the international canine lecture circuit, and has also published a highly successful first book, 'How to Handle Living With Your Dog.' I say this from my heart: if you love your dog - please, please, please give Winkie a try. Thank you so so much for everything Winkie.”

“'Dog Trainer' really doesn't do justice to what Winkie did for me, my puppy, and my relationship with him. She showed me how to understand him better and she gave both of us the tools for him to have boundaries and the understanding to become the sweet, fun, full-of-personality almost-well-behaved dog he is now! I looked forward to our sessions with Winkie, and Rocco, my stubborn headstrong chihuahua, instantly loved her and more importantly he listened to her and enjoyed learning. Honestly not sure if I would have managed without Winkie's help and I can't recommend her highly enough - she's enabled me to have the relationship with my dog I wanted but didn't know how to achieve on my own.”
